Moving can be a busy and frustrating time for anyone planning a move.

If you are planning on moving in the near future and decide to hire professionals for your move, there are a few things to consider when searching for the right moving company:

• Smart Moves™ definitely recommends checking the companies within our network of movers out with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.com) and the American Moving and Storage Association (www.moving.org) to see if they have information on them.
• It is important that you deal with only licensed companies. Ask the representative to demonstrate that it carries worker’s compensation insurance to protect the company and its customers. Smart Moves™ contracts with only licensed and accredited carriers.
• Always ask about the firms experience and client list. Call the clients to verify references.
• Check to see if movers are members of any local or national moving trade associations and contact them for further information.

Now that you have decided on a moving company the next step is having the moving company do an estimate for you. The most accurate way to estimate your moving costs is to get an in-home visual assessment from the mover.
